Moving from development to production readiness
Moving parts...moving parts everywhere
Update
I do most of my updating on Discord so if you’re looking for something more up to date, please check that out.
The game is closing in on complete and now I’m moving towards packaging everything up.
Becoming a real game
As I said in my last post here, it’s really starting to become a game I enjoy playing. I’m in season 8 of my career arc and I finally won the platinum championship. Granted, I didn’t scout or spend any time customizing my game plans or play book. Probably could have done it 5-6 seasons.
Going through this arc pointed out something I had totally neglected in my game…
Offline mode
Everything I have done so far is with multi-player online mode being the focus. However, not everyone wants to play online…right? For the past week or so I’ve been coding the game to allow for online and offline teams. For offline mode, I have to package up supporting infrastructure (database, scripts, etc) to support it. This is turning out to be much more difficult than I originally thought.
Once I’m done, it will be another extensive round of QA.
Steam
I finally have my Steam store page up and running. Just go to Steam and search for “Robot Gridiron”.
Youtube
I realized I’m going to need to make some videos to explain the game and help socialize it. Never done this before so, yet again, I’m stepping into unfamiliar waters. Along with developing offline mode, this is going to be my focus over the next few weeks.
More next time.
